Synthetic Biologists control cell function using assemblies of DNA parts that trigger computationally predictable behaviors.
We want to use extracellular matrix (ECM) components to control tissue and organ-level behaviors in a similar manner.
Specifically, we seek to recapitulate the early phases of human heart development using three ECM components and two cell types.

Cardiac Tissue Engineering
Computational models of the heart and its tissues have been used to investigate cardiac biophysics.
We want to use this modeling framework to provide computer-aided design capabilities in cardiac tissue engineering.
